April 12 - Easter Sunday:  No internet access for Ed tonight, so I'm (Mary) filling in on the post.  Ed's in Jacksonville, NC, tonight, after 86 miles (WhooHoo!) with a mostly favorable wind.  He met a riding buddy on the ferry from Ocracoke who's on his way to Tampa, and they're going to ride together for a while.  Ed says that the other guy (also a young one - 66yrs old!) is a stronger rider than he - lots of fun and encouraging, so they're having a good time.  Thanks for checking in!

  1. Whoa! 86 miles! You are cruising!! So how did the 86 miles compare to the 65 in VT? Is your butt made of leather now? So 6-8 hours in the saddle is manageable?

How's the bike? Keep that tire pressure up. Then again, if you pump up your tires you might do 90 and be way ahead of schedule.

I rode into a strong north wind in your honor yesterday with a few snow flurries throw in for good measure. Maybe you got the same wind? Hope it warmed up by the time it got to NC. So far April has been colder than our March training rides. May the north wind continue to blow & Happy Trails! Al

  3. The 86 miles on the flat with a tail or over the shoulder wind ain't nothing like 63 miles in dear old Champlain Valley. Butt's tough!
